Civil Sarah and Rollerblading Boy’s Wedding

I arrived at the airport early, so I’ve already filtered through the photos. Seems someone thought it was a good idea to put wifi on the plane, so here are some teaser photos from Civil Sarah and Rollerblading Boy’s wedding. The rest of the photos will be up as soon as I have more bandwidth.

These were on the groom’s cake. Aren’t they cute?

The Bride and Groom. Are you sure they are old enough to get married? What is the age for marriage in Texas anyways?

What are you looking at, Buster? Just because I was taking a photo of your wife’s bum doesn’t mean you can be a bum looker, you cheeky monkey!

Uh oh. What did she get herself into?

Caught taking photos!

Do fathers ever look as proud as they do during the father-daughter dance at their daughter’s wedding?

The rest of the California crew—my partners in crime.

They were making fun of me saying that all the photos of me are with a camera in front of my face. This is nothing new!

I hate using the flash. As a result, many of my photos are way too fuzzy to be any good. But I like the effect of movement. And I don’t like the harsh light my flash produces. The problem is worse when I hand my camera to someone else. However, you can see the dress I bought today. Decided I wanted something new to wear to the wedding, so I found a mall on the GPS and bought a dress within an hour. Cut off the tags and put it on in the bathroom. I actually bought two dresses because they were on sale. Now I have to find a reason to wear the other one.

Sunday retreat

I didn’t realize finding breakfast on a Sunday morning in Dallas would be so hard.

I left the hotel with the idea that I would eventually stumble upon Uptown. Sure enough, I managed to go directly there even without the help of my GPS. Speaking of the GPS, I half expected the Garmin to talk like a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Somewhat disappointed. Our GPS in Korea spoke Korean, so I think it would be amusing if I could change the GPS voice to sound like the locals wherever I am.

I drove down McKinney and saw Bread Winners Cafe which looked promising until I realized it looked like one of those places you take the whole family when grandma is visiting.

So I came down the other side of Uptown and saw a Starbucks. Not wanting to do the easy thing, I took out my phone and searched for breakfast. I got three hits and wasn’t interested. So I searched for coffee. Among the many Starbucks, I found the Urban Dog Coffee. Promising!

I should have checked the website first. Like most of Dallas, it is closed on Sundays. Bummer.

But, right down the road, I saw cars in the parking lot at Zaguán Latin Café and Bakery. Win!

It is this friendly, full-service bakery and coffee shop featuring Venezuelan and Argintinean food and Columbian coffee. I’m enjoying a ham and cheese cachito—diced ham and cheese in a sweetbread roll—and a latte while using their free wifi and escaping from the rain.

It is a very wet day here in Dallas.

Free Range Airline Chicken

Decided to eat at the Bistro in the hotel. Although I dressed up for the jacket-required French resturaunt, I decided to save my budget. And I figured there would be no single men. Seemed to be old couples.

So now I sit at the bar with all the other single, middle-aged women, slurping my tomato soup.

The Adolphus

I finally found my hotel. Seems that Hotwire did good. They picked me this gorgeous old hotel in downtown Dallas. Adorable.

Of course, to get here, I had to pound my jello shot, hang out with a group of lesbians and old gay men who thought I was 25, and go to a porn shop.

It has been an eventful day in Dallas. Now to find food. Do I eat in the hotel or go out?

Still at JR’s Bar and Grill

Haven’t left. Started to rain so we decided to stay a while. Had to go to the bathroom and I’d forgotten what it is like to pee in a stall without doors. At least there were separate men and women’s rooms.

For your entertainment, if you zoom into the picture you can see the car wash across the street.

The day is starting out great. Hamburgers and drinks in the gay district of Dallas. Yes, I know, I could have done this in San Francisco. But I’m having a great time!

Off to Dallas

I’m headed to Dallas for a wedding. I’m one of those crazy people who takes the 6:20 am flights, so I’ve been up since 3 am. I was a little confused when my alarm clock went off, but other than going to bed at 8 pm on a Friday night, it’s not so bad. Of course it would have been better if I had packed before going to bed. Oh well.

I am looking forward to taking a nice nap on the plane!
